Wafaa was buried at birth, only to grow into a big, bold watermelon. Her story is a reminder that when seeds are buried, they don't disappear—they rise.
She is inspired by the watermelon's role in nonviolent resistance in Palestine. When flags were banned, people displayed watermelons as a quiet but bold act of defiance, their colors mirroring the flag—a simple yet powerful way to reclaim identity and resist erasure.
Wafaa means loyalty and fulfilling obligation in Arabic, a reminder that movements survive through commitment and solidarity. With her fist raised high, Wafaa stands for all who refuse to be silenced by injustice.
